CIPSM sponsored "International Symposium of Synthetic Biology"
13:00 (Start: 8th of July 2010 13:00, End: 9th of July 2010 18:00)
CIPSM sponsored "International Symposium of Synthetic Biology". Although genetically identical, bacterial populations exhibit an extremely heterogeneous life style. New research results indicate that prokaryotic communities have a social behaviour including communication, cooperation, division of labour, cheating, and altruism. During the symposium, the phenomenon of phenotypic heterogeneity is presented from the medical, biotechnological and evolutional point of view. Biologists, physicists and mathematicians discuss about different external and internal factors as well as synthetic switches which influence phenotypic heterogeneity.
